Are We Ever Really Ready?

Interesting question. Recently a friend lost a close friend and she commented that she was ready, but her family and friends weren’t. I began to think about that comment and I guess that is always the case. But then again, is it?

Are we ever really ready? Fact: let’s be real, family and friends are never ready to lose someone they love! But are we ready? What does that mean anyway? Ready for what? Ready to find out if there really is a heaven or hell? We believe there is, but does that make it so? Ready for our lives to end? Ready to leave our family and friends? Ready to join our loved ones who have gone before us?

I have a good friend that I chat on the phone with once or twice a week! Nancy is 10 years older than me and she is always commenting about being ready. “Come on Lord, she says, I’m ready!”  Then she laughs and tells me that if she really was ready, she wouldn’t get up every morning and take all the medication the doc has prescribed. That always makes me laugh out loud. Why? Because  it’s true.

I am a real good example of that, I hate drugs, but for the rest of my life, I will go to the clinic every 3 or 4 weeks and pump my body full of drugs! Poisonous ones at that!  Why? Because I am Not Ready!

I have kids, grown ones, but my kids never the less! I need more time to aggravate the heck out of them! I have grandkids that I need to shower with gifts, hugs, and kisses! And spoil, just because I can! I have friends, I love making them laugh, even if it’s at my expense! 😀

So today I will start my latest round of chemo, and in between the pain that I know I will have, and the tears that I know I will shed, I will smile, and do my best to enjoy the time that I have left!

And the one thing that I know I will NOT DO, is give up! I will fight this Damn Cancer until I can’t fight anymore! I am no dummy, I will win some of the battles, but I know that in the end the cancer will win the war! But guess what?

It. Ain’t. Happening. Until. I. AM. READY!

And of course, God has to be Ready for me too!

That’s it for now! Have a great week and don’t forget to Live, Love, Laugh and By All Means, READ! And write reviews. My author friends get so upset when they don’t get reviews! Geez, so touchy aren’t they? 😀

Oh My Goodness, Frank Renzi, Are You getting soft? Featuring my favorite criminal, Natalie! Book Seven in the Frank Renzi series, Natalie’s Dilemma, by Susan Fleet

All I can say at this point is that Natalie’s Dilemma is no 5 Star Book… Nope, I need to give it 6, 7, 8 or maybe 10 stars! I absolutely love this series! Natalie is a criminal who puts you on the edge of your seat, all the time. But is she really a criminal? Does your heart go out to her?

Bullets flying everywhere, Mafia, (now these guys are criminals, no doubt about it!), Murder, Kidnapping, CIA, FBI, NOPD, and of course, Natalie in the middle of it all!

I have been reading this series for years now, and it just keeps getting better. I actually featured Susan back in November 2015.. see the article at Frank Renzi Post from November 2015.

So what does Natalie do? Does she run? Does she protect the child? There are bullets everywhere, does she turn to Detective Renzi for help? I guess you will need to pick up a copy of this book to find out. I promise, you won’t be disappointed. Of course, any of the Detective Renzi mysteries can be read as stand alone books… but if you really want to get to know the characters, I would suggest you start from the beginning. See my link above for a review of the Series.

Susan does an awesome job of building the characters from book to book and makes her reader feel like they are on scene wherever they are… Italy, NY, New Orleans… Susan does a tremendous amount of research into the characters, places, events and police work. It absolutely shows in this series. And just in case you haven’t figured it out already, I Highly Recommend The Frank Renzi Series.

Enjoy your week, and don’t forget to:

Goodbye February, Hello March

Here we go, another month has gone by… I do have to say that I am glad it was a short one. Things were a bit crazy in February.

Let’s take a look at my resolutions, or should I say goals for 2017.

1) I want to lose 20 pounds! That doesn’t seem like much but it will be difficult since I like to eat.

Not happening; I tend to be retaining fluids a little more than I want to… not to mention eating lots of things I shouldn’t be. Maybe March will be better.

2) Exercise daily. That’s a tough one, but I will think positive.

Well, exercise as in am I getting my steps in? went pretty well this month. I would say that I got them in about three quarters of the month.

3) Read 50-75 books. This should not be hard since it is what I love to do!

I am not doing as well on this one as I would like. My concentration is a bit off; actually a little more than a bit… it’s a lot off. I read 1 book and listened to 4 audio books this month. I guess that isn’t too bad. That gives me a total of 9 for 2017. If I hustle, I can at least get the 50 in. 😀

4) Get back to writing my blog!!! If not weekly,  Then biweekly.

Finally, one that I can say yes to, I am on track with this…. I am writing my blog.

February was filled with doctor appointments, bloodwork and scans. Before I can start any clinical trials, I have to qualify. Qualify? Really? Well, what that actually means, is that I have to have good bloodwork, and a strong heart. It’s a waiting game for sure, and I decided to keep moving, and try not to dwell on it. That’s my approach, and I am sticking to it!

My indoor garden is growing nicely; the couple of new plants I added this month seem to be happy.

I bought a new laptop at the end of January and by the end of February I wanted to throw it out the window. Instead I marched it right back to Walmart and traded it in for a better model. 😳 And good news about that… although I spent nearly three hours in the store, they took it back without a box or a receipt… go Walmart… 😀

That’s about it for my February. I hope that everyone had a good month as we welcome March and get closer to leaving the Winter behind.

Until next time, Don’t Forget to Live, Love, Laugh, and by all means Read!
